In its time Sunset Beach aquired quite a sizeable cult viewing in Britain. Hungover students and bored housewives would tune into the heavily distorted lines that somehow added up to Channel 5, Britain's newest terrestial channel, during the day and happen across a surreal soap that had little to do with the reality of lectures and baked beans (you didn't think I was a housewife did you?)
Prime attraction amongst these rough acting diamonds and terminal daytime-soap actors was a young miss Ward who finished top of the class by kind of acting sweet and pretty (well if you discount Laura Harring (Paula) who landed a cushy role in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive)
From cult soap star to film star.
Only its more of a cult film star role (you try getting hold of the In Crowd in the UK - it's been deleted.) A few minor parts on the margins (Poison Ivy 3? There was a 2!?) and other tv roles have left her more visible on the top shelf of the newsagents than on the big screen. Actually come to think of it, was anyone on the 'Going Greek' film crew or was it just a misconstrued parting - 'Bye guys, I'm _Going Greek_ holidaying'
There is an Official Site which is worth a look and it is nice to see a more approachable side of celebrity. I recall that back in the day her site was run by one of her computer-literate friends but it has come on since then and is definately worth checking out.
